I don’t know why, but I still like the pre-facelift 2nd-gen Scion tC. Specifically in this deep gray, or Nautical Blue Metallic.
As a brief recap for no one in particular, the Scion tC is basically a 2-door Camry liftback, available with a 6-speed manual or auto. Its looks wrote checks that the driving experience didn’t really sign. 180hp from an NA 4-banger ain’t bad, but in a hard-plastic container on a fairly large car, it is definitely not an enthusiast’s dark horse choice.
All that said, you do get some utility out of the thing. Mindless reliability, 8 airbags, middling fuel economy, usable cargo space for larger items in a pinch, and a driving experience as predictable as a the soul-crushing waking of a Monday morning. This is the kind of car you buy with high miles for peanuts while you wait to gather funds to buy something you’ll actually want long term.
What about you?

For me it’s RWD Volvos. I know they have a cult following but they are usually described as ugly or boring. I think they are some of the most aesthetically pleasing cars around (I think Lada sedans are gorgeous too so I’m weird), especially in the sea of soap bars and jelly beans that are current on the roads.
As for the TC I think it’s hilarious how many I see with body kits and other ricey stuff (I think some of the body kits and wings and junk were dealer options?) when under the skin they ARE A CAMRY.

For some reason, the 2-door 3rd Gen Focus.
Not fancy, just reliable, easy to repair and maintain. I fit it in quite well, and has enough toys and power features to keep me happy.

Newer cars or old cars? Disliked by people or enthusiasts?
I always kinda liked the first gen RX/Toyota Harrier before it became too Stepfordian.
The first RAV 4 and CRV are admirable for their honesty, although I think they have cults.
BL Princess is a guilty pleasure. Also, Ladas and other Soviet stuff.
I like some rather ordinary 70s/80s Japanese cars, say a Datsun 810 wagon, Toyota Crown, etc, but I think those all have big fanbases these days, but the normies would see them as boring old cars.
I also like some somewhat boomery stuff, such Edsels, especially senior 1958 models and 1960 models, and high spec 1960 big Fords.

Rental car/”gangsta” car rolling on 24"donks in low income areas
But with the 5.7Hemi zf 8 speed its swift quiet comfortable even on 20" wheels has all the features you need and affordable. Now consumer reports says their reliable as well. It's Gangsta yes, but the good kind of gangsta

Along the same lines. FWD Sport compact liftback. Also it’s real real dumb that the TC wasn’t just a Celica.
Also the 3rd gen camry. Zoidy May have had some influence here. (Scrolls up and realized this is your post) it’s just a nice car. If I could find a clean one I’d Daily it. ESP if I could find a manual Wagon.

For me, it’s the 1968-2004 VW Beetle. Yes, all air cooled Volkswagens have a fanatical following, but, it’s sometimes surprising how many “car guy” types absolutely hate them, especially those who get all their opinions from the Old New Top Gear. Even among VW enthusiasts, though, it's the least desirable era. Everyone loves the 1938-1966 models and goes crazy over the '67s.
I had a ‘71 Super Beetle in high school, and have been seriously considering buying another lately. I’ve already decided that if I do go back to vintage car ownership, something without a heater core, radiator, coolant lines, water pump, A/c compressor, climate control, and lots of power features would be the best way to go. All that shit gets annoying when it gets up in years.

Chevy Uplander; Nice interior, quiet, comfortable, and gives you 22 MPG while running 80+ MPH all day. Also it tows 4000 pounds without a sweat and makes an excellent race support vehicle. 80,000 miles by me with virtually no problems,

I nearly bought one a manual , maroon , SES Sedan. Same package as the one you pictured there, black trim, cool wheels, and a sportier Front bumper, leather heated seats, it was a nice car.
I was like 10 or 12 grand at the time, that was 2013. I see the car regularly around town, now it’s a complete rust bucket and I’m glad I didn’t need buy it. I had a felling they did rust just as hasn’t as the first gens and I was right,

Chevy Traverse. I’d never buy one but they are quiet, get 20+ mpgs are comfortable and have a good v6 under the hood. Way better than the explorer in my opinion. I put 1,500 miles on one and had zero issues and quite enjoyed the no nonsense way to traverse Montana and Wyoming at great speed.

Hummer H2
Jeep Patriot
Dodge Nitro
All terrible cars that I would never want to drive, but I like their styling.
Nissan Kicks, I prefer the Juke too, but I don’t see the complaint that the styling is boring. Maybe derivative, but not boring or ugly.
The new Chevrolet Silverado, although the incredible looking plastic bumper regular cab with the offset Chevy bowtie heavily sways my decision.
Maybach 57 / 62, I’m don’t even know why, they were horribly outdated when new, never mind the 10 years they spent on sale with no major changes. Maybe it’s because it was kinda the “underdog” compared to Rolls-Royce and Bentley, which is a terrible justification.
Aston Martin Cygnet, Its such a hilarious car, the definition of “what were they thinking?”, and I’m shocked at how many people hate it.
I could go on...

I have a soft spot for the TC as well. It’s a bo ring reliable car, but at least it’s interesting to look at.
I don't think it's a secret that I love me a manual 1 liter Geo Metro. Enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike look at me weird when I say I like them. Any 3 pedal car you can drive at 10/10 without breaking any laws is fun in my book.

The auto in them isn’t bad at all. But the stick shift is horrible, clutch has no feedback, shifter is weightless, and the plastic that the knob was made out of reminded me of B uzz L ight year’s helmet.

That makes sense that they’d spend more attention on the auto for their market position, but it’s a shame because it could have been a fun little daily for an enthusiast.
